About
The Kansas Science Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making science accessible, engaging, and fun for all Kansans. Through hands-on events, community partnerships, and interactive experiences, we connect people of all ages with the excitement of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
The Kansas Science Festival was founded by Michi Tobler and Jared Bixby, whose shared passion for science and community engagement sparked the creation of the organization. Their vision—to make science accessible, interactive, and inspiring for all Kansans—continues to guide our work and growth today.
Our Story
Founded in 2022, the Kansas Science Festival began as a grassroots effort to bring science into the heart of the community. What started as a small street festival in Manhattan has quickly grown into a statewide initiative, reaching thousands of attendees each year. With the support of presenters, volunteers, and partners, we’ve expanded our impact beyond a single event—launching new programs and satellite festivals to serve communities across Kansas.
Our Vision
We envision a Kansas where everyone has access to meaningful science experiences—where curiosity is encouraged, learning is lifelong, and communities are connected through discovery. By expanding outreach and strengthening partnerships, we aim to inspire the next generation of innovators and build a more science-engaged state.
